What is a Collector?A collector is an underground linear construction used for laying the cables and pipelines of engineering networks. The engineering networks are easily accessed for further maintenance, repairs, or exchange and replacement without disturbing communication networks.
The norm concerning the laying of engineering networks in collectors is ČSN 737505; Here the conditions for use of collector and technical corridor space for technical equipment are set out.
Collectors are divided according to means of construction as follows:
Deep tunnelled collectors : collectors driven with mechanized or unmechanized shields, at great depth. Such collectors may follow optimal routes (2nd category of technical equipment).
Shallow tunnelled collectors : collectors driven at shallow depths and connected to the street network (3rd category of technical equipment). Such collectors are not bound by the street layout.
Excavated collectors : excavated from the surface and prefabricated.
Further structures part of the collector system:
Collector underpasses : individual collectors under important communications (highways, bridges, rails)
Technical corridors : collector extensions in the basements of residential buildings
